For those of you who have never been to a World Tavern Poker Open before, you may not know what it is about or what to expect. So we have put together a number of Frequently Asked Questions. What Is The World Tavern Poker Open?
Simply put, it's kind of like the World Series of Poker on Jager! It's 3-4 days of nothing but Great Poker, Great Parties and Great People. At the event you will not only get to meet and hang out with hundreds of World Tavern Poker Players from around the country, but also play in low limit cash poker tournaments and take part in parties that offer great prizes and hilarious entertainment!

To give you an example of how great these events are, last year in Las Vegas a Regional Director from Coors came up to me and said “I've worked with Coors for 10 years and they have never put on an event this good”.

Do I Have To Qualify For Nationals To Go?
Not at all. In fact only 50% of so of the attendees will have qualified for the Nationals. Most people go for all the other aspects of the event. Trust me, these events are a great time!

What Can I Expect?
Non-stop action. There will be ongoing poker tournaments, prizes being given out, 2 great parties including the Bad Ass Biker Costume Party at The House of Blues and even the chance win a World Tavern Poker Harley Davidson (or $5,000 cash).

It all starts when you check in and get your SWAG Bag filled with all kinds of great World Tavern Poker Items. We can't tell you what we are doing this time, but in the past we have had WTP Gym Bags, Sweatshirts, T-shirts, Pint Glasses and more!

What Types of Tournaments Are There?
All the tournaments are No Limit Hold Em tournaments with several of them offering slightly different formats and additional prizes.

Tag Team Poker - This is the most exciting poker format at these events. You and your partner will “team up” to compete against the other teams. One team member at a time will be playing at the table and every 10 minutes or so the Tournament Director will announce to switch with your partner. Your partner must immediately take over your seat, even if you are in the middle of a hand! This event is an absolute blast.

Big Slick Biker Showdown - When you win a hand with big slick, you will be awarded another prize!

Biker Rally On The River - Each player will receive an envelope when they enter the tournament with a “prize” inside. When you knock a player out of the tournament, you win their envelope and the prize inside. Prizes could be “gags”, buy ins to other tournaments, WTP Open Badges for future events and even cash!

Hog Wild Hold Em - This is your chance to win the World Tavern Poker Harley Davidson!

I've Never Played Poker In A Casino Before.
Don't worry! It's not that much different from playing at the local bar. The rules may be a bit stricter but the game is still Texas Hold Em!

Can My Spouse Go? He/She doesn't play poker.
Absolutely. Many non-poker playing spouses attend these events where they prefer to play other casino games, hang out at the pool or even head to the spa! There will be plenty for them to do!

Why Do I Need A Ticket/Badge To Attend?
This is a private event with some serious expenses attached. From the welcome bag items, to the prizes we give out, the food and drink at the parties etc… Think about how many times you spent $100 on a couple video games, a concert ticket or even a night at the bar. Now think about spending that same $100 for 4 days at the wildest poker event ever!

What Can I Expect At The Parties?
We can't tell you what we have planned for this one...but in the past we have played Strip Poker on stage with real strippers, had players jumping in a pool to grab their starting cards plus we have some wild games where you can win some great prizes. Simply put, these are no boring cocktail parties. AND WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED THIS YEAR!

What If I Don't Drink?
No problem! For this event we actually have non-drinking badges…and you won't need to have liquor in you to have a lot of fun.

Can I Buy My Badge There?
The last 5 World Tavern Poker Opens have been completely SOLD OUT weeks before the event. That said, there may be a chance a few tickets are available at the door, but if you know you are going…DON'T WAIT!

Do I Need A Badge To Play In The National Championship?
No. Anyone qualified for Nationals can simply come and play in that event. However to take part in any of the other tournaments, parties, prizes, etc…you will need a badge.
